Econ min says Russia’s annual inflation may reach 4.3% in April
MOSCOW, Apr 28 (PRIME) -- Russia’s inflation may amount to 4.3% in annual terms in April, Economic Development Minister Maxim Oreshkin told reporters late on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the Federal State Statistics Service said that weekly inflation sped up to 0.2% in the week from April 18 through Monday, and consumer prices grew 1.4% since January 1. Last week, Oreshkin said that he expected annual inflation of 4.2% in April.
“In fact, April inflation may be above 4.2%, at around 4.3%,” Oreshkin said.
“But it is important to understand that the recent inflation growth is temporary, it is connected with dynamics of prices for fruit and vegetables.”
He said that inflation is unlikely to influence the central bank’s decision on the key rate at an upcoming meeting as there are many other important factors.
